WATTS UP SPORTS, INC. NOW ACCEPTING INQUIRIES FOR MEMBERSHIP

Phoenix, AZ, April 13, 2011 – Want to further your racing career with a financially stable and highly competitive cycling team? Watts Up Sports is looking to expand its roster by 2 riders immediately, with further additions for the 2012 racing season.

In 2010, Watts Up Sports had a very successful launch with a small core of dedicated racers and excellent sponsorship. This is a tight knit team comprised of individuals who enjoy competitive racing, are of good character and enjoy being part of a team-first environment. We’ve been on the podium several times already with more to come.

The current level of rider being sought is category 1/2/3 men. Some of the benefits to racing with Watts
Up Sports include: no membership dues, very generous clothing and bicycle discounts, free race-day massage at selected events and access to a highly experienced team mechanic with exclusive pricing for team members. As we grow and attract more sponsorship, more benefits will become available.

Beyond the spirit of competition Watts Up Sports gives back to the community by attending selected charity rides throughout the year while also serving as ambassadors for healthy living via cycling. Additionally, we shoot promotional videos featuring the team and its sponsors.

Please contact us via the information above to see what the possibilities are!

The 1st Tuesday Night Worlds Race of 2011

February 2nd, 2011
Race Report by Jonathan Cavner

Scott and I got 1st and 2nd in the B race.  Keith Broadhagen went out super hard at the beginning of the B race.  I just followed.  All of sudden there was a big gap.  So, I went to front and hammered.  Keith and I rotated leads and ended up lapping the field.  That’s when the fun really started.  Keith started attacking me time and again.   Again, we were off the front.  However, I was not going to work with Keith at that point.  After all we did have another race to ride after this one.  Scott went to the front and set a good tempo which was very much appreciated.  Keith beat me in the sprint by a half a wheel.  Scott was right behind in 3rd.  Unfortunately for Broadhagen he was DQ’d as CAT 2′s are not supposed to ride the B race.  I must say Keith was incredibly strong.  I’m kinda glad he’s a CAT 2 rider now.   I also must say I was particularly proud to have Scott and I go 1 & 2 in this race!  With all the various teams represented and 30 or so riders we had the top 2 places.  Go Watts Up!

The A race started as it normally does… a hammer fest.  My goal was only to survive this race after working so hard in the B race.  There was a bicycle haus and another rider off the front fairly quickly.  Then there was a chase group which eventually became the de facto peloton as people kept dropping out of the race.  I was following Keith when he pulled out to the side apparently to drop out.  Unfortunately for me this is when more attacks started.  It took me 4 or 5 laps to get back in the race.  Fortunately the work paid off as I was able to bridge up successfully.  Meanwhile at the front the Bicycle Haus guy ended up dropping his breakaway companion and lapped the field.  Holy crap!  He also pulled up a few more riders to the peloton which was now at around eight or so riders out of the original 20-25.  Then it was 5 laps to go.  The pace evened out till the last lap where Matt Sniegowski made a big move. Matt won the sprint and I came in 2nd which was 3rd place since the Bicycle Haus guy had lapped the field.

Jim Stenholm Charity Ride

December 1st, 2010

Members of the Watts Up team attended the 100km Jim Stenholm charity ride on October 23, 2010. In addition to the team, Lynn Bartola, Deanna Palmer and friends from the Optimal Health Center was on hand to provide free chair massages to any participant. You can see Lynn sporting the Watts Up cap/t-shirt working on a participant:

I had the chance to meet Jim’s wife at the end of the ride and what a pleasure that was. Quite a nice lady and so thankful for the huge turnout (at least 300 people there). You can read about the ride and more about who Jim was here:
